TPC KL, West Course (Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club) Description:
(site of the PGA Tour CIMB Classic and LPGA Sime Darby)

TPC Kuala Lumpur (formerly Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club) West Course is the longer and more challenging of two private golf courses at the club located near the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s sprawling city center. Designed by architect Robin Nelson and playing to nearly 7,000 yards from the tournament tees, the golf course is set among the Bukit Kiara hillsides and abandoned rock quarries.

Professional tournaments staged at the TPC Kuala Lumpur include The Malaysian Open; the first co-sanctioned event between the European and Asian Tours in 1999. The same event held again in 2006 was where Korea’s Charlie Wi won his first European Tour title, becoming only the second Korean to win on the European Tour after KJ Choi.

TPC Kuala Lumpur hosted another Malaysian Open in 2010, which resulted in a win for 18-year-old Korean Noh Seung-Yul, who edged out KJ Choi by a single shot in a dramatic finale on the 18th. In 2011, another youngster claimed the Malaysian Open title. Italy’s 17-year-old Matteo Manassero won the event by one shot. Since then TPC KL West Course has been the annual venue for stops from both the USPGA and USLPGA Tour’s including the Maybank Open and Sime Darby Classic.

More recently, the West Course at TPC Kuala Lumpur has undergone a total redesign. Nelson & Haworth originally designed the West Course, which opened for play in 1991, but Parslow and Associates extensively reconstructed the layout throughout eighteen months. The revamped West Course reopened in October 2008. The third makeover completed in 2018.

A golf course for the true shot-maker with imagination and unrelenting attention to detail, TPC Kuala Lumpur’s West Course is designed to give the player sensational views of the hole and the surrounding scenery, countless shot options into the greens, and pristine playing conditions.

The tougher 7,000-yard West Course which plays across the pleasantly undulating hills features a vast lake on hole 9. Water now comes into play on no fewer than thirteen holes. This Kuala Lumpur course continues to be perfect, as it offers excellent challenges to visiting professionals and amateur Kuala Lumpur golfers alike.
